Sheryl Staples, violin

Violinist Sheryl Staples joined the New York Philharmonic as Principal Associate Concertmaster in 1998 and made her solo debut with the orchestra in 1999 performing the Tchaikovsky Concerto with Kurt Masur. Since that time she has been featured in concertos of Mendelssohn, Mozart, Haydn, Bach and Vivaldi. She has also appeared as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Diego Symphony among others. A frequent chamber music partner with Philharmonic colleagues both in NY and abroad, she has performed for US Ambassadors in London, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong and Beijing. This summer, in addition to Salt Bay, she will perform at La Jolla Chamber Music Society’s Summerfest. Ms. Staples teaches orchestra repertoire at the Juilliard School and will head to Shanghai in September for a week of teaching at the Conservatory. Upcoming solo performances include Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the New York Philharmonic and principal violist Cynthia Phelps in November of 2014.
