Ron Botting, actor
For the last 23 seasons, Ron has been an actor, singer, and director at Portland Stage Company where his wife Anita Stewart is the Executive and Artistic Director. During that time he has been privileged to work with a bevy of fine artists including Tony Award winning director Bartlett Sher on productions of Romeo and Juliet and a musical version of Moliere’s Scapin.
Ron has also worked with Tony Award winning composer Jeanine Tesori on a new musical The City Suite and productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls and Sondheim’s A Little Night Music.
In New York, Ron has acted at the OBIE-winning Jean Cocteau Rep, Ohio Theatre, Tiny Mythic Theatre, HERE, St. Clements Theatre, Primary Stages, Cherry LaneTheatre/FringeNYC and in play readings for the NY Theatre Workshop, New Dramatists, and The Naked Angels.
Ron is a member of Shakespeare and Company where he studied voice with Kristin Linklater, acting with the RSC’s John Barton and danced with choreographer Susan Dibble at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Ron is as pleased as Punch to have this chance to work once again with fellow New York Theatre Workshop “Usual Suspect” and OBIE-winning Artistic Director Elyse Singer.
