Fima Ephron, bass
Born in London, England, Fima Ephron moved to New York at age three. After starting playing bass at age 13, Fima attended New York City’s famed High School of Music and Art and was playing professionally by age 14. He has gone on to perform and record with a cross section of some of the greatest talent in the music industry: Walter Becker, David Torn, Gil Scott-Heron, Natalie Merchant, Meshell Ndegeocello, Screaming Headless Torsos, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, Chris Potter, Wayne Krantz, Don Byron, David Sancious, Idina Menzel, Alana Davis, Morley, Steve Bernstein’s Millennial Territory Orchestra, Groove Collective, Alex Sipiagin, Hasidic New Wave, David Fiuczynski & John Medeski's Lunar Crush, Yeoffi, Jeb Loy Nichols, Franklin Kiermyer, Jaki Byard and the Apollo Stompers, Rise Robots Rise, John Zorn, Brad Shepik, and Frank London, to name a few.
Mr. Ephron has three acclaimed releases of his own: Soulmachine on the Tzadik label, his self-released Quiet City, and his recently released CD on the Ropeadope label titled Songs From The Tree. He also co-led the acclaimed group Lost Tribe and currently leads his own quartet. He continues to reside in New York City.
